The UK’s Health Secreatary Secretary Matt Hancock has apologised for breaching social distancing guidance after photographs were published showing him kissing an aide.
A UK tabloid today published pictures of Hancock with Gina Coladangelo, who was hired by Hancock last year.
The images, apparently captured from CCTV footage, were taken on May 6 at the headquarters of the Department of Health and Social Care.
At this time, UK government guidance said two people from different households should not hug.
Hancock said in the now familiar apology from politicians who flaunt the rules: “I accept that I breached the social distancing guidance in these circumstances.
I have let people down and am very sorry. I remain focused on working to get the country out of this pandemic, and would be grateful for privacy for my family on this personal matter.”
I bet he would too. When incompetence meets dishonesty and unfaithfulness it makes for a heady mix – a mix that in a normal world would lead to dismissal.
The Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he “considers the matter closed” and he can hardly criticize Hancock given his own proclivities in the sexual arena.
The question now has to be asked – exactly what would you have to do to get fired from the British cabinet?
